Monika Haros, PhD in Chemical Sciences, is a founding member of the Chia-Link Network and works together with the academic from the Research and Postgraduate Education Institute of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Loreto Muñoz, on various projects.
Within the framework of the collaborative work that she develops with the Research and Postgraduate Education Institute of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Universidad Central and in particular with researcher Loreto Muñoz, Monika Haros, PhD in Chemical Sciences from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, gave the keynote talk “Phytates in your diet: friend or foe of your health?”,
“We are working on the Fondecyt project that Loreto develops and she also participates in my projects. We do collaborative research: her students come to our laboratories, our students come here to Universidad Central, all within the Iberic-American network in which we work.”, emphasizes Dr. Haros.
From her side, the academic from the Research Institute points out that "currently Monica and I are developing my project, which is a regular Fondecyt, that precisely looks from the perspective of seeds, nutrients and some of the bioactive components, how they affect or how they can prevent diseases related to metabolic syndrome, which is closely related to the interest of the faculty and, of course, with institute research”.
Dr. Haros has developed her professional work in universities and national and international research centers since 1990. Currently, she is the head of the Cereals Group of the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology belonging to the Spanish Higher Council for Scientific Research (IATA-CSIC). She is a founding member of the Chia-Link Network, which forms part of the ValSe-Food Network (Iberoamerican Valuable Seeds), instance that Dr. Haros coordinates.
