Dr. María Teresa del Río is a Psychologist from the University of Chile, has a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Joensuu, Finland, and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Catholic University of Chile. She also stands out for her specialization as a family and couples therapist from the Chilean Institute of Family Therapy.
She has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses at several universities and specialized institutions in the clinical area since 1992 related to family therapy with children and adolescents, postmodern approaches, and theoretical problems in systemic therapy and family abuse.
In the professional field, she has worked in clinical psychology with children and families on different topics, in teams specialized in child abuse and trauma, psychotherapy, and training and consulting for teams.
Her areas of research interest are theoretical psychology and psychotherapy, emphasizing dialogic approaches, qualitative methodology of micro-process processing analysis, traumatization processes, and modes of therapeutic intervention.
Regarding her addition to the institute, Dr. del Río points out: "I hope to contribute to the Research Institute of our Faculty with my experience in clinical intervention in childhood, in qualitative analysis of psychological processing by contributing with innovative methodologies."
She is joining us after the incorporation of Dr. Susana Cortés last September. In 2022, a total of 6 new researchers were added to the work of the Institute of Research and Postgraduate Studies.
